New Widget Download: Webcams

December 15, 2007

Webcams Screenshot

We just made our new Webcams widget available on the Widgetop web desktop and on our downloads page.

Stay in touch with your home, famous places of the world, the current traffic conditions and much more by watching your favorite web cameras. This Webcams widget makes it easy to monitor web images which are continuously updated (like web cam pictures). The images don’t have to be produced by web cams. You can monitor any image which is updated over time like weather radars, traffic maps and so on.

Go and download it from here.

More webcams can be found on WorldWatchr

Dashboard Widgets on Windows with Widgetop on Prism

October 29, 2007

The Mozilla Labs just released a demo of their upcoming Prism platform. It makes it easy to run any web application outside of your web browser on your native desktop just like any other desktop application. For the moment it only runs on Windows but Linux and Mac OS X support is promised to come soon.

Here are the steps you need to do for running Widgetop as a desktop application:

  1. Download and install Prism
  2. Go to your start menu and run Prism:
  3. Fill in the details for Widgetop:
    Prism setup
  4. Select whether you want to have a start menu entry, a desktop icon and a quick launch icon.
  5. Finally press OK .

That’s it. Go to your start menu and find the Web Apps folder and run Widgetop.
